Hello! In this video I will show you how to make a LUT that enhances foggy haze.
I will enhance the effect of foggy haze with a mask. You have probably already noticed that in “Mask destination” drop-down list you can choose not only which tools the mask will apply to, but also you can choose mask position before or after all the tools. In this case, the mask itself will act as a tool. I’m going to use Luminance mask. I’ll adjust it like this. Thus, now you see not a preview of the mask, but a processed image. This does not look much like haze amplification, so let's move on to the second step. In 3D LUT Creator, as in Photoshop, there are various blending modes. I’ll select Soft Light blending mode. That's what happened! Here is the photo before, here is after. The foggy haze has been enhanced. How can this edit be improved? Since the mask is already taken, I will compile my edit and load it as External LUT. What can be done with this image? I would like to save contrast from original image on the foreground. I’m going to create the illusion of depth. I will choose Saturation mask and exclude LUT effect on highly saturated colors, which include orange foliage. This is how the mask preview looks like. Here is the result! Here is before, here is after! The contrast in the foreground almost did not change. I’ll load another foggy image. Here is before, here is after applying my LUT. The mask can be adjusted not only by saturation, but also with Luminance mask. That's what happened!
