Speedy Bee RC Airplane Kit Build & Fly

The Andy Clancy Designs Speedy Bee is a four channel, sport radio control (RC) model airplane kit. The Speedy Bee is a mid-wing follow on to the Clancy Lazy Bee RC model airplane. This video is a complete overview of the Speedy Bee RC airplane kit and how you can build and fly it on your own.

First developed around 1995, the Andy Clancy Lazy Bee was and is a popular RC airplane design for sport flyers. Having a hug wing, light weight and generous control surfaces, the Lazy Bee is a great airplane for relaxed weekend flying.

The Speedy Bee has the same overall design as the Lazy Bee, but with a shoulder mounted wing and a bit more aerobatic and speed capability.

The Speedy Bee kit contains all of the balsa wood, plans and parts to complete your model. You will need to add the normal finishing items such as glue and covering, as well as a motor and RC electronics. The Speedy Bee can be configured with either a gas or electric motor.

The CAD plans are very well prepared and contain all the information you need to complete the model. There is also an instruction manual that can aid in your construction of the model. I would say a beginner could build this model, just take your time and follow the instruction guide backed up by the plans.

The model flies just great. I used a Park 450 motor which offers plenty of power. Controls are positive and with the huge wing little danger of stalling out. Plus, the large RC model is easy to see in the air.
