[2.7K] The Lvkv m/43 (Luftvärnsvärnskanonvagn modell 1943) or "Anti-Aircraft Gun Carriage Model 1943" is a Swedish self-propelled anti-aircraft weapon developed by AB Landsverk and Bofors in 1943 out of the need for a tracked anti-aircraft vehicle to protect armored columns from air attack. Based on an elongated version of the hull of a Landsverk L-60 tank and mounting dual Bofors 40 mm L/60 guns.

The chassis of the tank was based on the already existing Landsverk L-60 tank chassis, modified and lengthened to contain an extra roadwheel. The tracks and engine were retained from the L-60 without change.

Based on the previously designed and produced Landsverk L62 Anti I and Landsverk L62 Anti II designs, the turret was essentially an enlarged and modified version made to mount the two larger Bofors 40 mm L/60 guns.

The turret was hydraulically powered allowing for a full 360 degree spin in only 7 seconds. The rate of fire was 120 rounds per minute, with 326 rounds being stored in the turret.

KAFT originally ordered 42 SPAAG’s with the designation of “Lvstrv m/42”, (aka. Luftvärnsstridsvagn m/42, which was the predecessor for the Lvkv fm/43) which would’ve been divided among the tank battalions of the Swedish armed forces. During it’s prototype phase during 1942-1943, the “Lvstrv m/42” had three different variants which showed potential: The First prototype (which were a mere minature mockup (See Image below) was armed 3x20mm akan m/40 cannons and had 2x9mm machineguns as a self defence armament against infantry. The Second prototype replaced the 20mm cannons and the 9mm machineguns with a single 40mm Bofors Lvakan m/36. Both of these prototypes used the L-60 as the hull for the Self-Propelled anti-aircraft gun (Strv m/40K). The Third prototype however, used the L-62 Anti as it’s hull for the Self-Propelled anti-aircraft gun. While having a changed hull, it also carried 2x40mm Bofors Lvakan m/36 instead of a single 40mm Bofors cannon.

The Swedish Tank Museum – Showing the military vehicle development, as well as the military history of Sweden, from the early 20th century until today. The museum also includes a very special exhibition of tin figures, as well as a soldier’s croft dating back to the 17th century, where an accompanying exhibition tells you about a bygone era.
The museum was inaugurated June 17, 2011 and is open year round. Run by a private foundation – Foundation Södermanland Military History collections. The vehicles belong to the Swedish Government – the Swedish National Museums of Military History. The vehicles were previously located to the Tank Museum in Axvall and Military Vehicle Museum in Malmköping. The collection includes about 350 vehicles, of which about 75 are on display in the museum. Some parts of the exhibition changes each year.
Beside the museum there is an original soldiers croft from late 19th century with an accompanying exhibition, The Soldier and the Croft. An exhibition about the history of the local Regiment (Södermanland regiment) tell the story from 14thcentury until 2005 when the regiment was closed. The figure museum is a private collection which previously existed as a museum in Hjortnäs in Dalarna.
