While grocery shopping, I found some sweet paprika powder and decided to do a soxhlet extraction on it using ethanol. The extraction went for 35 cycles before I stopped it for time reasons. I got a red-brown extract that has flavor but no scoville heat to it when tasted. At the end of the video I show an ethanol distillation from a bucket fermentation of sugar. The ethanol is needed for these extractions.
