Imagine if you NEVER had to scoop green coffee again. That's what the SOVDA Precision Silo is going for. It's an 8-compartment storage and dispensing system built for roasteries. It can hold up to 80 (even 88!) bags of green coffee, weighs and dispenses each batch for you, and can even do pre-roast blends.
Being a coffee roaster is a labor-intensive task, and scooping green coffee is one of the most laborious and repetitive parts of the job - especially if you work for a medium-to-large roastery. When I was at Black & White I was scooping up to 3,000 lbs of coffee on the heaviest days, which was leaving me tired, achey, and on my way towards burnout. Since I left Black & White they've installed the very first SOVDA Precision Silo, which alleviates a lot of that heavy lifting. Now roasters are free to keep a closer eye on their roast, and are at lower risk for repetitive strain injuries from scooping. This video is my take on the SOVDA Precision Silo - how it loads, dispenses, and overall reflections.
