The 4449 was built by the Lima Locomotive Works in 1941 to pull the Southern Pacific's "Daylight" trains between Los Angeles and San Francisco. SP 4449 left Portland OR., en-route to TrainFest in Owosso, MI. TrainFest was held on July 23-26, 2009. On July 18, 2009 the 4449 Left Minneapolis via the BNSF to Chicago, ILL.
