This is a short film trailer for the Soundgate VR app for Oculus Rift S VR headset. The app is now available as an alpha test version, anyone who wants to try it out email the developer at R [dot] Till [at] hud [dot] ac [dot] uk for a pre-publication copy, if you have an Oculus Rift S. It allows you to see caves with prehistoric cave paintings, Stonehenge, and a Roman Theatre in VR 3D. The caves are part of the Altamira World Heritage Site, in northern Spain. They include La Garma's hand stencils, Las Chimeneas with it's deer painting, and El Castillo with 43,000 year old red dots, some of the oldest cave paintings in existence. You can also see paintings of horses in La Pasiega and Tito Bustillo. You can also hear the acoustics of the caves, and music played on archaeological replicas. Stonehenge is shown in 3 of its different phases of development, and looks especially beautiful at night. This is a rare opportunity to see what Stonehenge would have looked like 5000 years ago. Again it's acoustics are modelled, along with what it looks like, so you can see and hear what it would feel like to be in this iconic archaeological site in the past. You can also see Paphos Theatre, like Stonehenge and the caves, this is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can hear reconstructions of Roman musical instruments the Lituus and Aulos being played, and hear the effect of the beautiful acoustics in the theatre.
