Ancient cultures (& a few present-day tribal cultures) encourage healthy spiritual growth through soul initiation. For them, soul initiation is a normal part of human development that leads to spiritual maturity. They consider spiritual maturity such a valuable part of their society that their culture has normalized spiritual rites of passage in an effort to make the transition to spiritual adulthood as smooth as possible. Our culture has done the opposite. Our culture has been used against us to keep most adults in a state of spiritual adolescence.
