With me playing my best (so not necessarily "perfect execution" or "optimal"), going back here after you get bat and doing this skip first try saves 2-3 seconds over library carding and nailing the big staircase skip and about 10 seconds over library carding and not stopping to try the big staircase skip. On PS1 version this would save even more time because of cutting out menu loads and the loading with the library card.
This skip is something I've known how to do for a while and messed with a long time ago, but not something I'd seriously considered until the route recently got even more optimized than before. This is obviously not a good race/marathon strat, but it might be good even if it takes 2 tries in a WR attempt.

This is the WR as of 9/18/2012. This beats my previous in-game time by 14 seconds. The real time of this run is 19:46, making it the first console run of SotN to complete the game in under 20 minutes. This time should prove to be fairly tough to beat, even with all the time I lost at the Richter skip. Sub-19 for the in-game time is definitely possible.
