I recently got some amazing Steve Lacy older releases, an artist I've been obsessed for half of my life or so, and seing him featured on the cover of an RSD album should have seen me a little excited, but it was not the case, maybe sadly so, as I found the record in question pretty average, if not less so.
This past week, I've been watching some of those "record store day haul" videos. I noticed maybe 2 records I might be currious about. Maybe.
The amount of - IMHO - "unnecessary" wax being pressed, hyped and showcased for that week end, it makes you question the hobby, doesn't it? Thankfully, it is potentially "record day" every day, and even when it's not, it certainly is "record shelves day" all the time, purely focused on our musical kinks and obsessions, rather than a made up panel of supposedly desirable releases. Let's plunge into some new and older releases then, and see what's exciting.
