Lori Goldston is a name familiar to most of the viewers of this channel. An extraordinary composer and improviser of modern music, a cellist, ans also a one-time member of Nirvana.
What does Nirvana mean in 2026, over thirty years after their demise? For many people, they are a cool logo on T-shirts, they are that 90ies band that was a little weird and noisy, but for those who lived around them or their music back then, it did change a lot of things.
Sean from the Washington noise band Birth (Defects) - birthdefectsyouth.bandcamp.com - and myself (Stunty) have been affected and maybe even defined by them to a significant extent.
We had long planed to have a discussion about what they meant and still mean to us, from a sociological, musical and historical perspective.
But we were blessed enough to have Lori accept to take part of this discussion, quite spontaneously!
So for the first couple of hours, we talk with Lori about her journey through music, her work with the band, and all these topics listed above.
