Remember that deep manly voice from last week? Well, that's bronchitis for you! It's been 7+ days of a feverish blur, and almost no digging at all, the most in a long time. Thankfully, we did not come close to covering the Den Bosch spoils, and some more!
But as we entered the second quarter of this new year, some reflection was bound to happen. And when I look at my "recent" finds and rabbit holes, I can't help but notice how modern classical is growing pretty fast in my collection. I've been interested in that field for quite some time now, at least 2 decades and a half, but the difference is how sideline curiosity has evolved into the final frontier, the shiny far west where the biggest suprise are to be found. How much has rock music left to truly challenge us, huh? Isn't nostalgia, comfort and classicism what got us where we are to a certain extant? Which brings me to why I am very little curious about the upcoming Boards of Canada album. Back in 1997, I wrote a review of their first EP for a french magazine, describing it as nostalgia for a time that never existed, ie hypnagogia... Back then, I meant that as a positive. How relevant is that path, when we found ourselves at the edge of a precipice? Well, unless you are fine with being drained with the dirty water in the sink, I think I'd rather be looking for new challenges, both new and old. Down with the sacred cows, and let's see how much I abide to that motto in this video ^^

back in vain it’s black and beautifully
sketched by Baskin in fact as though
he’d thought it a holy beast of sorts
a sacred cow or Zen bull
someone was having trouble herding
its hooves delicate as a devil’s
prance cloven above the heaven
and hell of my head its law written
in red biblical letters says
for me it seems specifically—
Pig, poet, thou shalt not eat.
