Captain Rongo — real name Rhak Rongo — is a male Clantanni performer and self-styled pirate legend whose notoriety owes more to myth than fact. He’s heavily tattooed and famously grins through a mouthful of aurodium teeth.
According to Rongo, he once captained a fearsome pirate ship that terrorized Outer Rim trade lanes. Independent records, however, suggest he was likely a junior gunner in a small-time raider crew operating near the Shaltin Tunnels. He served nearly eight years in a Republic prison for targeting unarmed freighters.
Since his release, Rongo has leaned fully into the legend. His music career gained unexpected momentum, built on outlaw charisma, tattooed bravado, and songs laced with grimy charm and questionable wisdom. His breakout track, “Sorry Buddy I’m a Pirate,” became a cult hit, particularly among younger Mid and Outer Rim males, according to RimCom demographic analytics.
The song is a deadpan confession masquerading as swagger. Each verse delivers a fresh betrayal — stolen ships, abandoned crewmates, pilfered lovers — all followed by Rongo’s signature shrug: “Sorry, pal… I’m a pirate. This is just what I do.”
