Getting sore neck muscles is a common experience for anyone starting a new workout program or pushing themselves a little too hard. If you're feeling this kind of neck pain, incorporating some simple neck stretches into your routine can help relax your neck and provide much-needed pain relief. To get started, an upper trap stretch, levator scap stretch, and scalene/sternocleidomastoid (SCM) stretch are excellent ways to help loosen up a sore and tight neck.

For additional benefit, include a chest/pec stretch and a chin tuck in the routine - both of which can be a great help in stretching out the muscles in the neck and shoulder area.
