Sony STR-D2020, 130 WPC Receiver from 1990.
Brought out my Sony collection tonight. Here’s the first one. This was 5.99 at Goodwill back in the early Covid days.
What’s funny is it worked good when I got it but I had to kind of bang on it to get certain things to work. And this is where I learned: I opened it up and found cracked solder joints everywhere because there’s terrible heat dissipation. After fixing all the broken solder joints I found that everything worked, including every surround mode, etc.
So here we are a few years later it’s still plays strong. This is very powerful and pushing the HPM 100s painfully but respectfully.
Has an excellent spectrum analyzer and all sorts of fun features and buttons.
And has digital inputs to boot! In 1990 there were very few components that actually put out digital whether be optical or coaxial.
