In this video we look at a inexpensive repair for the Sony SA-WCT90 Sub-Woofer. This Sub was not powering on. This seems to be a common failure of this model. After troubleshooting and then searching online I was amazed to find much talk about the 54334 Converter chip being a common issue. More surprising than that is that I could not find a video or any good troubleshooting for the chip. I showed the best I could while still trying to make the video short as possible. This Chip was really tough due to the small 8 Pin SO package with the bottom thermal pad. I had to get it so hot to remove it, the tape to shield the other SMD passive components is very much needed. Going back, the Low Temp Solder Paste helped a lot because I did not have to get the bottom of the chip so hot to get it down flush. Hope you find this video helpful. Thanks for watching!
