In a recent podcast by Eurogamer Spain, they mention a few key things they’ve heard about PlayStation and Xbox at the Gamescom show floor.
Take note that these are unverified rumors, and as such, should be treated with a grain of salt.
That rumor is taking shape because different publishers are bringing it up, and above all because it seems, and here comes another rumor that’s been circulating… that PlayStation has realized it is leaving an opening for other market players to shift their strategy.
And that these players could take advantage of this situation regarding the demand for, or complaints about, physical formats to change their philosophy moving forward.
Among them is Microsoft. The word around here is that Microsoft is speaking internally with all publishers, stating that their next console will be “100% physical”, with the ability to convert your physical games into digital ones. It is being said that Microsoft is telling developers that Project Helix, their upcoming console, will be entirely physical.
The rumor doesn’t stop there. It also mentions how Sony was also approached by a “major” game maker about its “massive title,” and how if Sony can’t promise a physical release, this major game maker (which was said isn’t Rockstar), will skip releasing on PlayStation and just release the title on Microsoft and Nintendo’s platforms.
Aside from the fact that it wouldn’t make sense for this mystery company to be Rockstar due to existing marketing agreements and logistics, it’s really interesting to see the rumbles of shifting strategies going against PlayStation. PS5 Pro is currently sold out across retailers online (Best Buy, Target, Amazon, etc) ahead of GTA6 launch
It's still available on PS Direct or at significant markups from third party sellers ($1200+): Things from the Gamescom backstage are starting to reach me; they tell me that the public's reactions, despite what Sony wants to make it seem, have indeed sparked controversial internal reactions.
On a marketing level, it's having an impact, and they're going to make changes in communication and planning.
Plus, some third-party studios are temporarily choosing not to tie themselves to PlayStation.

Sony PlayStations strategy today:
➡️ Flood their official social media with posts to blur our advocacy comments among them and wear us out from fighting.
➡️ Have their in-house press outlets all say that the movement is losing steam based on this and demoralize everyone they can. Note: The original report is in Chinese. The text below is a translation of the article.
According to a report translated from Chinese, citing claims originally made by Moores Law Is Dead, some third-party game developers are reportedly growing frustrated with PlayStations social media strategy. According to Moore’s Law Is Dead, some third-party game studios are paying Sony thousands of dollars to feature their games on PlayStation’s official social media at specific times.
The report says some developers are frustrated because those paid posts are flooded with negative comments and community notes from players mad with PlayStation’s recent decisions
It also says this could become a bigger problem for future marketing campaigns, with GTA 6 mentioned as one example if the backlash continues.
Good job guys if this is true, complaining works
The report claims that studios pay Sony thousands of dollars to secure promotional posts on PlayStations official social media accounts. However, with PlayStations social channels currently flooded with criticism, those paid promotions are reportedly being buried beneath backlash directed at Sony rather than the games themselves.
Anonymous sources cited in the report say some developers are questioning whether the premium marketing is still worth the cost if their announcements continue to be overshadowed by negativity toward PlayStation. [RUMOR] PlayStations Backlash Is Reportedly Scaring Off Paying Publishers A study of 778 PS5 games found 93% are fully playable offline, with just 4% locking content online. Its a strong counter to the idea that discs are no better than digital, right as Sony phases them out. Does it change your view? PlayStation just lost the goodwill of its community Sonys now after our Anime Physicals are you freaking kidding me.
Boycott Chrunchyroll
Boycott PlayStation
Boycott Sony
No Disc No Buy
We gotta go into overdrive now people
#Playstation #Sony #NoDiscNoBuy
As of now, these claims have not been independently verified by major gaming news outlets NEW LEAK says Game Devs HATE Sony!! PlayStation Backlash GETS WORSE!!](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Ps8PqclrHes/mqdefault.jpg)
