NEW: Bungie is reportedly set to lay off at least 50% of its workforce this summer (around 400 employees) following the end of Destiny 2’s live service development NEW: Sony leadership reportedly has a "desire for revenge" against Bungie over issues with its live service strategy, with "internal resistance/strong pushback" at PlayStation over the decision to end Destiny 2 live service support How does enacting revenge against the company you paid $3.6 billion dollars for help you overall? What is the actual point of that? Why shutdown Destiny 2? Why not continue the IP and make money? I’ve sat thinking on this for weeks since evrything was announced. Its puzzled me, especially seeing as Destiny 2 hit number 1 seller on Steam last week, and showing up all over the gaming community. However, if Sony really just has a hard on to kill everything from the Jim Ryan era, then I’m concerned about Destiny/Marathon servers a year out from now. Being asked about this a lot. I don’t know anything about the guy who is saying this, so I can’t vouch. I’m looking into it on my end. Not quite sure about the “revenge for Sony’s live service push failing” framing, but who knows May sound like a joke, but they’re blaming Bungie/Destiny for all their live service failures. Destiny is unironically getting punished for Concord’s failure.

Sony PlayStations strategy today:
➡️ Flood their official social media with posts to blur our advocacy comments among them and wear us out from fighting.
➡️ Have their in-house press outlets all say that the movement is losing steam based on this and demoralize everyone they can. Note: The original report is in Chinese. The text below is a translation of the article.
According to a report translated from Chinese, citing claims originally made by Moores Law Is Dead, some third-party game developers are reportedly growing frustrated with PlayStations social media strategy. According to Moore’s Law Is Dead, some third-party game studios are paying Sony thousands of dollars to feature their games on PlayStation’s official social media at specific times.
The report says some developers are frustrated because those paid posts are flooded with negative comments and community notes from players mad with PlayStation’s recent decisions
It also says this could become a bigger problem for future marketing campaigns, with GTA 6 mentioned as one example if the backlash continues.
Good job guys if this is true, complaining works
The report claims that studios pay Sony thousands of dollars to secure promotional posts on PlayStations official social media accounts. However, with PlayStations social channels currently flooded with criticism, those paid promotions are reportedly being buried beneath backlash directed at Sony rather than the games themselves.
Anonymous sources cited in the report say some developers are questioning whether the premium marketing is still worth the cost if their announcements continue to be overshadowed by negativity toward PlayStation. [RUMOR] PlayStations Backlash Is Reportedly Scaring Off Paying Publishers A study of 778 PS5 games found 93% are fully playable offline, with just 4% locking content online. Its a strong counter to the idea that discs are no better than digital, right as Sony phases them out. Does it change your view? PlayStation just lost the goodwill of its community Sonys now after our Anime Physicals are you freaking kidding me.
Boycott Chrunchyroll
Boycott PlayStation
Boycott Sony
No Disc No Buy
We gotta go into overdrive now people
