PM-R TV | Sony a1 & 400GM lens 4K video 60P 4:2:2 over-cranked (1/1000th f/2.8 @ 100 ISO) [no sound] @PMRTV | Uploaded 2 years ago | Updated 4 hours ago
I've now shot a couple of games with my Sony a1 camera and Sony 400mm f/2.8GM lens but I've been shooting video instead of stills. I have been using 120P and 60P frame rates but I've been going much higher with my shutter speed than most videographers would be comfortable with. Normally, you are supposed to shoot at one stop higher than your frame rate, so 120P is closest to 1/125th sec shutter speed. One up from 1/125th is 1/250th and this is the "normal" shutter speed for that frame rate, except that when I try to harvest still frames from that video, the images are not sharp due to motion blur. So I'm using 1/1000th - 1/1250th as my norm and the still frames I'm harvesting are looking pretty good. They are easily good enough to be published in a newspaper or magazine and even enlargements up to 11x14". I'm finding very few people are doing this but I think the video looks decent, though I'm breaking longstanding rules. What do you think?
