In a previous video I teared down a dead SONOS Sub (Gen. 1) and did a failure analysis (link below). My conclusion was that the power supply was gone for good, but the digital part is still working and that the amplifier is probably OK too.
So I proposed to replace the power supply with an off-the-shelf one. And that’s what we’ll be doing in this video. The original power supply and the audio amplifier are on one board, so that’s a challenge. And there’s not much space available.

In the previous video we’ve improved the oscillator frequency measurement, determined/verified the axes of the chip and tackled the first two parameters – VIRTUALGAINMIN/-MAX (link below). Now we’ll have a look at the next parameters.
We start with some errata regarding VIRTUALGAINMIN/-MAX. Then we read up on the ORTH_[SEL|XY|B1B2] parameters in the datasheet and experiment with ORTH_SEL and ORTH_XY. We also look at MAPXYZ and do some housekeeping.
