Synopsis:
A new seaside habitat awaits Sonic and co.: Adabat, the location of the next Temple of Gaia. Sonic obtains both parts of the Temple's Boss Key during day and night, and at the Temple Entrance confronts and crashes Eggman's Egg Lancer, a menacing combination of his previous mechanical hazards, Egg Beetle and Egg Devil Ray. As Sonic and Chip walk towards the sixth Temple of Gaia, Chip acts hesitantly frightened at what might lie inside. Sonic questions his fright, but Chip puts it aside. Sonic puts the Chaos Emerald on the altar, when Chip's intuitive fears become clear and he is sucked into a mysterious panel of the wall. A mysterious light greets him inside a void of space and bathes him in light. Chip's memories have finally been restored.
With his ancient memories intact, Chip reveals the reasons for the planet's disaster, the origins of Dark Gaia, his own namesake and purpose, and the power that keeps Sonic pure inside at night. With a responsibility to fulfill and a heartfelt farewell, Chip sets out to fulfill his destiny, alone; but not if Sonic has anything to say about it.
