Tails in Sonic the Hedgehog, similar enough to the Knuckles playthrough but without the disadvantage of the lower jump height.

Tails can deal with most of the bosses much easier. Green Hill Zone probably is the hardest to finesse whilst flying, ironically. The Labyrinth boss area is a quicker ascent than Knuckles as you can fly between the gaps quite handily.
Swimming is the only disadvantage Tails really has compared to Knuckles. Climbing and Gliding can be handier underwater (at least here). It helps somewhat in Scrap Brain 3 though.
