Hugh introduced me to this beautiful song, and I immediately fell in love with it. ❤️
First came the piano — which was definitely a challenge but I really enjoyed learning it. Once I finally got that down, I thought...well, now I actually have to take on a Christine McVie vocal. No pressure there! So instead of trying to imitate her, I just felt the words and sang in my own style.
Hugh added the beautiful guitar and mixed all the audio.
And a little bit about the video...it’s my nod to Christine McVie’s original 1976 recording session. She recorded “Songbird” on a nine-foot Steinway in Zellerbach Auditorium at UC Berkeley, with roses and spotlights helping set the mood. Once I learned that story, the whole theater idea for our video came together.🌹🌹
Both Hugh and I, the vocals and the instruments you see and hear are real. We did use some AI-generated imagery to help create the theater setting and atmosphere, but the performances are ours.
I had so much fun putting this one together, and I hope we did justice to such a beautiful song.
