Welcome to my 683rd solo guitar arrangement video on YouTube, “Something So Right” by Paul Simon. This is a special song for me, as I have loved it since I was a young boy. I added it to my "To Arrange" list last year and I finally sat down to work on it I was surprise at all the rhythmic twists and turns, seemingly random measures of 2 and 3 beats added or removed out of nowhere, and of course they were not random, this is a composition meant to support the rhythm of the lyrics, and does so beautifully. This was never one of his really biggest hits but it did appear on a successful album and it did chart. In addition, many music legends were involved in the song, not the least Bob James on electric piano, Grady Tate on drums, Quincy Jones doing the string arrangements and Phil Ramone engineering. A song like this could never make it to an album or the radio today and this alone is a reason to miss those days. If you don't not know it, I urge you to check out the original. I made two slight changes, I lowered the key by half step so I can enjoy more open strings and I also cut a little short the longer instrumental outro, it's always a balancing act when playing a vocal tune as an instrumental. #paulsimon #somethingsoright #bridgeovertroubledwater #stillcrazyafteralltheseyears #youcancallmeal #50waystoleaveyourlover
