In conversation with Uta Kögelsberger and Youngsook Choi

Chaired by Dr Olga Smith

Artist Uta Kögelsberger and Youngsook Choi will introduce their respective works and discuss questions surrounding visual art's agency in the wake of environmental change, in a conversation chaired by Dr Olga Smith. This event takes place in the context of Kögelsberger’s solo exhibition Some Kind of Love: Actions and Reactions to Living on a Damaged Planet, currently on view at the Hatton Gallery through 24 January 2026.

Celebrating its 100 year anniversary the Hatton Gallery has been a vital part of the North East’s cultural landscape since 1925, with a collection of over 3,000 works ranging from the 14th century to today, including pieces by Francis Bacon, Richard Hamilton, and Kurt Schwitters.
