Anyone else feel like they're in a bad dream? Things are surreal. And I'm not afraid to admit it - it's scary sometimes. The future is uncertain, the economy is teetering on the brink, people are hoarding toilet paper for some reason. Times are crazy.
But you know what's the real danger here? Boredom. It's pervasive. It's overwhelming. It's everywhere.
I swear I will never again complain about running errands.
We all need distractions right now. We need a break from the boredom and the chaos. And I'm hoping I can provide a little bit of that distraction for you. So I'm posting this video with a couple of recommendations for distracting yourself, a little bit of image review, and finally a gross story about a rough morning I had once.
The image review covers some 645 photos I shot for an ongoing project I'm working on called "Dead Inside" - a study of formerly-bustling corporate offices shot on medium format film. And some of the shots from this set are particularly eerie in light of current events. All were shot with my Mamiya 645 Pro TL using Kodak Portra 400 film, primarily with my 55mm f/2.8 lens (some with my 80mm f/1.9 lens).
The magazine I recommend in this video was formerly known as PhotoKlassik International but is now known as SilvergrainClassics. But whatever the name, this magazine is excellent. If you're into analog photography, you'll love it. It's everything I've ever wanted in a magazine without even knowing it.
I plan on posting more videos in the coming weeks to help ease your boredom. On location vids won't be practical for a little while, but I hope the offerings I put out in the meantime will keep you entertained.
