and Iāve learned that with each new baby, the older onesā needs change - and it can be hard - nah, impossible! - to satisfy everyone with the same activity!!
I start them all the same: natural birth or freebirth, cosleeping, breastfeeding, elimination communication (pottying from birth), babyledweaning, Montessori-inspired play spaces, LOTS of outdoors and physical activities.
And these practices produce super athletic, connected, present, bright kiddos who have CONSTANT needs related to their age and stage and they blow thru each stage, hungry for more experience where I can hardly keep up š¬
So with each kiddo I learn what they need (often based on what their ābadā behavior is telling me š)ā¦and I do my best to OPTIMIZE UP THE SPACE for them.
Here we have my 2 yr old on a little course she does again and again with things Iāve collectedā¦
(Plus our fave - the wooden gym set which is a mobile baby/toddler Montessori essential IMHO.)
And the big kids have a sensory swing and a bunch of gymnastics mats and materials theyāve created a āsea captainā game from in their free play time.
Just like with a potty station for a baby or toddler, i always always want to create an environment where they can do it themselves AND hit their developmental milestones!!!
This truly starts with getting the āprimalā stuff like potty training or infant pottying ādoneāā¦as doing this frees them up to learn, explore, and play!
Potty independence = better prepared to learn everything else (and play better)!! š¤Æ
