My friend Long Beach Joe and I went for a late afternoon/night hike in the snow looking for a cool spot tt backpack to next weekend. He was given 2 pair of snow shoes and we tried them out. A few miles in, the set he was using cracked then fell apart. We were miles from the truck and he was post holing knee deep snow. The sun went down and the tempts dropped fast. IF, things would have gone real bad, I could have and would have gone for additional gear to get him out. It is just another reason you dont go out in snow or ice solo!
