Like other central Chilean ski resorts, La Parva receives a reasonable amount of snowfall each Southern Hemisphere winter, typically accumulating between 100 to 200 inches from June through September. While snow totals are generally a bit lower than nearby (and higher-elevation) Valle Nevado, they are still quite respectable.
Where La Parva truly shines—if you time your visit right—is in snow quality. Thanks to its high altitude and dry mountain climate, the resort often sees light, dry powder when storms roll through. While quality can vary from storm to storm, it’s usually at least very good—and under ideal conditions, it can be absolutely exceptional, even rivaling the legendary snow of Utah’s top resorts.
For those properly equipped to venture off-piste, La Parva offers a real treat. The terrain outside of the official trails can remain untracked for days—or even weeks—after a storm, offering fresh lines long after the last snowfall.
That said, snowfall at La Parva is highly variable. The resort often builds its entire seasonal base off just a handful of significant storms, meaning the quality of conditions in the following days, weeks, or even months depends heavily on those few accumulation events.
As a result, those planning to ride the off-piste terrain during a low-snow year may leave disappointed if the timing doesn’t line up.
