Snorkeling in Okinawa at Kibougaoka Beach is a lesson in serenity. We entered at low tide and the reef was literally inches away from us. At times making us hesitant to swim in certain direction.Lots of table corals and fingers corals, many of which offer refuge to my favorite fish species, the Harelquin Filefish.
It's quite the swim to get to the main reef. Don't let the patches of browken and bleached corals phase you. Stick with the plan and kick to the reef drop off and before you know it you will have massive expanses of table corals, reef cracks and all manner of fish around you. Watch for marauding surgeonfish, clouds of Anthias and small squid just under the surface (who move way too quick for filming).
This was our first time swimming this reef, it won't be the last. All filmed with a GoPro Hero12 Black using an AOi wide angle adapter lens. Shot in 16:9 log profile 4k at 120fps for the slow motion. I also used a 60% transparency grey gel to cut back on the highlights that this camera is so happy to create.
