In this video I utilize a new fire lay that not only burns hot and efficient but can also be used to protect your fire from the elements.
We start by picking out a safe place to build the fire. by the small creek, in the side of the bank. N0 under ground roots can be seen and the fire will not burn anything else. The ground is easy to dig out here and we start by driving a wooden steak into the ground. This allows the kids to dig the loose dirt out easily. Due to my injured right hand I allow them to do much of the work and they like it anyway. when the hole is approximately 3 feet deep we drive another wooden steak in through the top joining both holes and therefore creating an air vent which will help the fire burn more efficiently.
Finally we build our fire and heat up our pine pitch to fix our primitive clay pot. This fire lay is great for cooking and heating things up because it burns hot and you can utilize the heat coming out of the vent hole at the top of the fire pit.
Our clay bowl did hold water but would leak slowly. This would be good for a quick survival container but as I said before you would want to make a few of these at one time to insure that one of them would come out usable. Thank you for watching. Thank you for your views, comments and support.
