Scallydandling about the books | Smile As They Bow - a book from Burma for Banned Books Week @scallydandlingaboutthebook2711 | Uploaded September 2022 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
A special scallydandle to Burma to mark Banned Books Week.

Smile As They Bow by Nu Nu Yi was banned and censored for representing gay and trans characters. I read the excellent translation by Thi Thi Aye and Alfred Birnbaum. This is a fine short novel that packs a lot into less than 150 pages.
