i forget about where it all began
bastard son of a bastard son of
a wild eyed child of the sun
and right as rain, i'm not the same but
i feel the same, i feel nothing
holding back the fool again
holding back the fool pretends
i forget to forget nothing is important
holding back the fool again
i sensed my loss
before i even learned to talk
and i remember my birthdays
empty party afternoons won't come back
holding back the fool again
holding back the fool pretends
i forget to forget nothing is important
holding back the fool again
i forget to forget me
i forget to forget you see
nothing is important to me
i knew my loss
before i even learned to speak
and all along, i knew it was wrong
but i played along, with my birthday song
holding back the fool again
holding back the fool pretends
i forget to forget nothing is important
holding back the fool again

![Smashing Pumpkins - Jellybelly (old version) - Enter Sandman/Paranoid (tease)
1992-01-28
Luxor, Koeln (DE)
Enter Sandman [Metallica] tease during the song; and Paranoid [Black Sabbath] tease at the end.
About the song:
This song is rather mysterious. There are only 3 recordings of it. The first time it was played, it was very raw, and had lyrics from STP for two verses and then Offer Up lyrics over the outro. The second time it was played, it was a bit more structured, and it just had lyrics from STP. The third time, it had lyrics from STP and Offer Up. So it was branded Offer Up (long) for a while, and then it was just admitted that no one knew what to call it. Recently, Billy identified the song as an early version of Jellybelly. Whether the song just had its title lifted or somehow developed over time is unknown, but the officially released song Jellybelly as we know it is not similar at all. The lyrics listed are from the 1/20/92 performance.

Lyrics
[unintelligible]
this is where i left my friends
some are real and some pretend
all of you, you knew me well
because ive never ever been
so strong
now alone
this is where i left my friends
some are real and some pretend
all of you, you knew me well
because ive never ever been
so strong
now alone
now alone
now alone
now alone
offer up your vanity
offer up your sanity
offer up your everything
offer up to me
offer up your sanity
offer up your vanity
offer up your everything
you offer up your everything Smashing Pumpkins - Jellybelly (old version) - Enter Sandman/Paranoid (tease)](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/fJCsXIb_vQc/mqdefault.jpg)
