EDIT: The ROLL CANCEL GRAB HAS RESTRICTIONS. Dash Attack Cancel grab has none.
During the first two frames of their startup, you can cancel a Dash Attack or a Forward Roll into a Dash Grab or Pivot Grab. This can give you greater reach than just doing a Grab and varies depending on the character. Doing it slightly late can significantly change the distance you cover.
The Roll Cancel Grab has some restrictions. You have to do a Forward Roll within the first four frames of a dash, and you cannot shield between those actions or it will not work. As a result of having to dash for at least one frame beforehand, all Roll Cancel Grabs will take slightly longer to start than a normal Dash Grab.
You can tell if you've successfully done a Roll Cancel Grab if you see a flash near your feet, which happens at the beginning of a Forward Roll.
