First off, a massive thanks to Smartwings for providing the motorized shades used to make this video. It gave me the perfect opportunity to do a video that I had on my list for a long time, which is adding an unsupported zigbee device to zigbee2mqtt.
So the purpose of this video is two fold.
First I want to get you familiar with the motorized roller shades from Smartwings, because they are an off-the-shelf, fully customizable roller shade option that can integration with Home Assistant locally. No cloud services needed.
Second I want to show you how to add device support to zigbee2mqtt when you run across an unsupported device because it may be easier than you think.
