Before you drop hundreds of dollars on a fancy watch, you need to understand that the best smartwatch isn't the most expensive one, it’s the one that works best for YOU. Think of a smartwatch as a tiny, helpful assistant strapped to your arm, and they can be as unique as you and I so there are tons of options. We will find your perfect match in under five minutes.

Smartphone compatibility
If you are rolling with an iPhone, your choice is pretty much made for you because the Apple Watch is tailor-made for iPhone users. On the flip side, if you are an Android fan, you will want to look at Wear OS devices like the Samsung Galaxy Watch or the Google Pixel Watch. Do not buy an Apple Watch if you have an Android phone, nor a high-end Wear OS watch if you have an iPhone, because it straight up will not work. There are cross-platform alternatives out there, like Garmin and Amazfit, if you need one watch to play nice with them all.

Battery life
On one side there are the hyper-intelligent smartwatches like Apple and Wear OS. They can text, make calls, run apps, and basically do magic, but they chew through power like crazy, meaning you will be charging them every 1-2 days. On the other side there are fitness-first champions like Garmin and health trackers from Fitbit. These watches sacrifice some of those heavy smartphone features, but in return, their batteries can last for a week or even a month on a single charge. You have to ask yourself if you want a mini smartphone on your wrist or a reliable tracker that you rarely have to plug in.

Health and fitness
If your idea of exercise is walking to the next room, a basic watch that counts your steps and monitors your sleep will do just fine. But if you are training for a marathon, hiking into the wilderness, or hitting the gym every day, you need to look closer at the sensors. There are some rugged outdoor watches, like the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 that will even track your depth when diving or monitor your hydration levels to remind you to drink during a hike. Look for built-in LTE connectivity if you want to leave your phone at home during outdoor runs. Advanced metrics like blood oxygen tracking, ECG heart monitors, and specific workout profiles will give you a massive window into your health, so make sure the watch actually tracks the specifics that matter to you.

Do you want safety features like fall detection or Emergency SOS? Then you will want to look for watches that offer that. In terms of convenience, would you like a watch that you can use to tap to pay, control your media, has an AI assistant or offers turn by turn directions? The flashlight and Find My Phone features get used very frequently.

Comfort
You are going to wear this thing all day, so pick a size that doesn't look like a massive solar panel on a tiny wrist. A new strap can make all the difference. Trisha’s pro-tip? Use a fabric band to sleep in and for everyday wear but workout and swim in an active band. Or just find what works best for you!

So, which features, style and specs work best for you? Drop a comment below letting us know which watch you are leaning toward, if this video saved you from buying a high-tech paperweight or if you are still fiercely loyal to the classic analog watch.
