This video is about file transfers for the PS5 Slim. It’s a straightforward procedure to move saves and other files to your new console. The PS5 Slim is largely the same as the standard model, except for a 1TB storage drive instead of the standard 825GB. It still offers an M.2 SSD to be added for as much as an additional 8TB, meaning the PS5 Slim has a potential of 9TB internal storage. That’s a lot of games!

Get started
Transferring data from a PS4 to a PS5 Slim is the same process as for the standard PS5, with no additional complexity. Simply:
Sign into your account on both consoles
Update both the source and destination console
Connect your PS4 and PS5 Slim to the same network (either by Wi-Fi or with LAN cables)
Transfer
To initiate the transfer, make sure your PS5 Slim is on, then from the home screen select Settings, System, System Software. Select Data Transfer, then Continue, and follow the on-screen instructions. That’s all! The PS5 Slim will automatically restart during data transfer, and it can be used immediately once it’s restarted. Game data and other data may still be transferring during this period, but you’ll see which games are ready to play in the thumbnail of the Games tab.
Check progress
You can monitor the data transfer’s progress in the Control Center, by selecting
Downloads/Uploads
You must avoid turning off either console, changing your network settings, or running internet connection tests during data transfer, to prevent data loss or damage.
