I grinded this category in a few games starting a few days before SRM. SS0 is the last one I did before TW and I was proud of getting this solid of a run. Definitely my second favourite game for this category so far.

This route could be close to competitive in both 115 star and 65 star (since the latter already uses the capless route for the parasol star), but its probably either not faster than 100c+maze or too hard to be worth the risk.")

Skipping the wingcap in Bowsers Dreamy Promenade and removing the need for the wingcap switch for accessing the end of the game. This was already known about, but nobody seems to have uploaded a video demonstration of it, and there seems to have been some confusion about the difficulty of the skip.
The first-frame wallkick on the long fall can be skipped if your height isnt as abysmal as in my demo. However, controlling your position on these wallkicks can be pretty difficult so this is definitely a very advanced strat.
The angles should be consistent, though, as long as you wallkick the exact same walls the exact same number of times as me.
Since the wingcap switch is locked behind 38 stars (and a tricky arch wallkick) and the path to the end of the game is only locked behind a 33 star door, this already lowers the minimum star count by 5 stars just on its own.
Separately, a light chuckya clip through one of the 33 star doors to course 7 had already been demonstrated in a Theory TAS by ShiN3 (https://youtu.be/au1njOW2Nhs ). Together, these strats lower the star count to the 26 stars required for the metal cap.
Done in 5 savestates because I didnt go for a lower savestate count.")

The route was all over the place because I didnt route the star beforehand at all. A better route could be, for example:
Stump bridge → leaf coins → root → 10-box under blues → 10-box inside → vine red → crazy box / wiggler red → leaf coins → crate → river root → blues → chuckya/lakitu/branches → hive red → slidekick red → light chuckya → underwater inside → chuckya coins → stars.
The slidekick red was really hard, the crazy box was kinda hard, the framewalking was free, and the entire rest was pretty annoying. Kinda sad that I couldnt do this star justice but at least I finally finished it.

A very noob-level run, albeit still pretty taxing and frustrating. There were many places where I could have gone screw it, this is taking too long, Im ignoring the A press goal - but in most situations, I didnt.
