The route was all over the place because I didn't route the star beforehand at all. A better route could be, for example:
Stump bridge → leaf coins → root → 10-box under blues → 10-box inside → vine red → crazy box / wiggler red → leaf coins → crate → river root → blues → chuckya/lakitu/branches → hive red → slidekick red → light chuckya → underwater inside → chuckya coins → stars.
The slidekick red was really hard, the crazy box was kinda hard, the framewalking was free, and the entire rest was pretty annoying. Kinda sad that I couldn't do this star justice but at least I finally finished it.

A very noob-level run, albeit still pretty taxing and frustrating. There were many places where I could have gone screw it, this is taking too long, Im ignoring the A press goal - but in most situations, I didnt.

This TAS is meant as an ideal run and aims to optimistically approximate what a skilled speedrunner might dream of as a, for RTA standards, perfect attempt. As such, I intentionally laced this TAS with small to medium imperfections, but nothing major enough to disrupt the flow of the run.
The 12 Star category in Super Mario Fantasy is an Easier Any% category and is defined as Any% without skipping the vanish cap in B3, the key door to C4, or the 12 star door to B1. This distinguishes it from 0 Star, which uses 7 first-frame wallkicks to skip the vanish cap wall in B3 (https://youtu.be/yAaQK2Ih9z8?t=214 ).
145008 is the time from reset to collecting the grand star, including Mupens emulation of SM64 lag but excluding the roughly 12 seconds of PC lag on my end. Sorry about the low video quality, any higher setting would have likely produced even more PC lag.
If you know how to reduce the CPU usage of Mupen, STROOP, OBS, or background programs, Id be glad about some advice.

The previous video for this star by Sidney (https://youtu.be/qVfPysjSV_A ) combines it with 100 coins, which adds a 1:43 hour long strat to access 18 yellow coins. We can bypass this by only collecting one of these two stars.
Contrary to Sidneys video description, he did figure out a way to enter the stage in 0 A presses (https://youtu.be/Q4oizz14qnI ), making Colourful Coral Caverns an option for a potential 80 star route.
We might be able to conserve 16 swim speed into the second part of this stage by reactivating about 90 speed at 0:39 with a better angle. This would save another big chunk of time on all 3 stars in this area.
