This is really just experimenting with some redstone...

Pretty convinced now should be possible to make a smart elevator though with a lectern on each floor to select the floor and a call button to make that lectern be in charge.

No time to expand the concept now so just putting up what I got if someone else wants to take it further before I do, but will be looking at making a smart elevator with floor selection on any floor when I do get the time.
