SmackDown 1 Changed Wrestling Games Forever
The gameplay was faster, smoother, and embraced pure arcade-style wrestling fun. And then there was the season mode—a completely chaotic experience filled with bizarre, often hilarious cutscenes where seemingly anyone could show up at any time. One week you’re chasing a championship, the next Gangrel randomly appears for reasons nobody can explain.
More importantly, SmackDown laid the foundation for one of the greatest wrestling game franchises ever made, eventually leading to classics like SmackDown 2, Shut Your Mouth, Here Comes the Pain, and beyond.
