I recently made a video pitting the Creality K1 against the Bambu X1C in a high-speed torture test showdown. We tried to reach the highest speeds we could with each printer in their stock forms. We were able to get as high as 450mm/s which wasn't too bad. We also raised the inner and outer wall speeds. The results weren't perfect, they weren't terrible either. But it raised the question of whether a fast printer designed to be run at high speeds could produce better results if we slow it down, or would there be other issues that come up if we do?

In this video, we we through far more tests to see if we could get the answer to that question, we even created our own speed test model along with the torture tests.

I've used the same Creality Hyper PLA as the previous video and dried it again thoroughly.

With the Max, we found out that with such a fast heating cycle, and the larger and thin bed were getting a lot of warpage, but we also found that the warpage didnt stop right away, the bed changed shape and then began to change back. Most of the settling back happened within 10 minutes but it continued for as long as 20 minutes. In this video I wanted to show you a way to pre-heat automatically so that you dont need to think about it. **Special note: The Max takes only 5 minutes to reach 100C, its far faster than most other printers, adding a bit of time back to this heating cycle is a good idea and will give you the best results with the thickness of aluminum plate were dealing with. If we want to protect something, should we use ABS? How about PETG? Or Maybe youre the PC type. I have an okay sense about each of the materials, but I couldnt tell you which material was best to protect expensive equipment, and which material could take continued abuse and not just break after one drop. This video is dedicated to doing realistic dop testing to see if we can get some real answers to those questions so we have a better idea of how to design 3d printed parts, and that we also have a sense about which materials perform the best under which conditions. In the previous video, we tested only PETG, it has a good reputation for being flexible, but it also has this other very strange property of becoming brittle and fracturing at a certain point. In this video were going to see if we can figure out the right mix of flex and strength for that material so we can use it and have the confidence that itll do the job.
