Can we live by slow food values in a fast food culture?
This runs so deep and affects much more than our shopping and eating habits and I think it’s because cooking and eating IS the essence of what it means to be human. It’s what sets us apart and we’ve left it behind.
But it’s not complicated to get back to. If it’s intuitive, and inside you, it’s natural and easy to rekindle.
If it feels like coming home, you know the way. ✨
Slow Food Values in Practice:
-call up a relative that can teach you a family recipe that’s been passed down and listen to stories that come up around it.
-savor your food the next time you eat. taste it. chew it.
-grow a garden.
-look up a local restaurant that specializes in something unique to your area.
-watch chefs table on Netflix.
-make a dinner with multiple courses and lots of friends/family.
-start an eating club of friends to just eat dinner and talk about life once a week.
-serve dinner at a soup kitchen.
-bring a meal to someone who’s going through something difficult.
-look up local farms in your area and check one out.
-consciously have more fun with food and eating. put on nice music, make it a celebration/experience.
