I first want to thank everyone at the Mario Superstar Baseball Club for the event coordination and software backend support for making the SLICE and SLICE Open tournaments possible - and to Gotta Gacha Arcade for the excellent venue. It was an honor to be chosen as the hosting channel for the bulk of SLICE Open gameplay.
Logistics were tricky with dozens of people playing hundreds of baseball and golf games in such a short time.
The Winners Round 1 games were played on the side early to kickstart the tournament in the hopes of minimizing scheduling conflicts with baseball matchups. With the uneven bracket, 3 higher-ranking players got byes into Round 2, including myself.
This match sees ChrisToasty and sleepywitch competing at Peach's Castle Grounds after having each lost one match. Toasty lost to Nick, and sleepy lost to melthrax (sidestream game). Despite being a relative newcomer to Toadstool Tour competition, sleepy has acquired great technique. She plays more tactfully with straight hitters - particularly Yoshi - to great effect. A lot of interesting impact point shots here. It's almost like there's a loose repository of gameplay to pick up from. Toasty wins this match to advance further in loser's bracket, knocking out sleepy from the tournament.
