On the weekend of September 20-21, the Metro Red Line in Washington DC was closed between Union Station and Rhode Island Avenue. Because of the location of crossover tracks, that meant that trains serving Union Station had to run on the left track, either entering or leaving the station.
Additionally, Judiciary Square station had the Glenmont-bound track (outer track) closed as well. Which meant that the trains serving that track (half of all trains) skipped the station. It all lead to a very unusual situation (but handled smoothly and communicated well).
