In this lecture (part of the course SketchUp + Photoshop: Digital Watercolor Rendering in 3 Hrs) we see how to add a watercolor effect to an arch viz rendering. This takes an otherwise flat looking rendering, made up mostly of solid color and gradients, and adds a hand painter watercolor look to it, or a non-photorealistic (NPR) effect. This stylizes the rendering to make it look more like traditional architectural watercolor paintings. It also serves the purpose of helping people to understand that it is a conceptual rendering, rather than an exact representation of the finished product. This works well for early design iterations so that clients are not hung up on details.
