I split out some White Oak skewers and let them soak in water while building a fire. Batoning more White Oak pieces, I arranged them into a log cabin fire lay within my hobo stove. I packed the log cabin full of Pine needles, ferro rod ignited them, then let everything burn down into coals.
Placing the skewered bacon on the stove, it only took seconds to see that the fire was way too hot. The dripping grease was making it even hotter. To rescue the skewers from the intense flared up, I kept having to remove them from the blast of flames. Still though, the bacon turned out wonderfully delicious and not burned up.
