Sister Location was lucky enough to be made in the era where Scott was still making his own mobile ports, so we ended up getting a downgraded port of the game, and thankfully he made it after the custom night update, so it’s the complete package.

Now with this being a downgraded port, it’s not going to be a 1:1. The UI is basically the same as PC but condensed to fit a phone screen. Because of this, you can’t see the AI levels of the characters (like legacy mobile FNaF 2), but that’s hardly a problem. Since custom night on PC doesn’t have actual customisation, it not being a thing here either isn’t a problem either, unlike legacy FNaF 2.

The gameplay itself is pretty much identical to the PC counterpart, but like the custom night menu, the UI has been condensed to fit a phone screen. Namely there’s no vertical scrolling just like in the main game, and the door buttons have been enlarged. The vent door button has also been moved to below the vent door for whatever reason. Seeing as it was in its proper place in the private room night, I’m not sure why this is the case. As for shortcuts, while you don’t have direct button shortcuts that you do in the modern SL and UCN mobile ports, Scott compensated and made it possible to tap the door buttons, LOL and Bonnet’s nose while the camera is up. This does make for less clutter on the screen, but you still have to be facing the appropriate door to close it this way, but I think this is an acceptable compromise.

Most characters remain unchanged from the PC version, but a few have been altered to make it a little easier. Since most audio is mono, Ballora now shows a danger indicator from the door she is close to, since you can’t tell by directional audio. Lolbit now only requires a single tap of the keypad to deactivate. And Minireena 2 are much more transparent and easier to see through.

The general content of this version is an objective downgrade. None of the Michael Afton cutscenes are present, and that includes the final cutscene from 10/20 Mode, so it’s really just focused on the gameplay. In terms of sound design it’s also an objective downgrade. Instead of the three custom night soundtracks from the PC version, it instead reuses the shorter loop of Watch Your 6 from the main game. Also, since Crumbling Dreams uses a shorter loop as well, you’ll be hearing the first few seconds of it pretty much all night whenever Ballora is active.

Now while the gameplay itself is basically the same, there are 2 major bugs that make higher difficulty modes much harder than any other version of the game. The first bug is that Bidybab’s final sound cue that indicates she is about to attack is completely silent. This means you have to check the vent camera when she is close by to know when to shut the door. Because of how multiple sounds on the same audio channel work in the legacy mobile ports, her normal voice lines also don’t play if she succeeds multiple movements back to back, making it seem like she’s moving silently. Also for whatever reason her voice line “I’m gonna get inside” that plays when you beat Dolls, Attack! or Bottom Shelf is silent as well. Not sure what that’s about.

The second bug involves Funtime Freddy. For some bizarre reason, using a shock has a chance to just randomly trigger Bon Bon’s attack out of nowhere without warning. What I’m certain is happening is that the audio files for Funtime Freddy’s attack voice lines were moved to the same audio channel as the sound for the controlled shock (using a shock while he is sending Bon Bon results in no shock sound playing). What this results in is a controlled shock triggering the same event as a Bon Bon attack minus the voice line. This one is only a problem in the last 2 presets, but it makes your survival much more tense, as you could literally die out of nowhere. It’s even worse on Android specifically because using a shock while Funtime Freddy is in the middle of sending Bon Bon will also instantly trigger the attack.

These two bugs combined make 10/20 Mode significantly harder than it should be, and also makes it by far not only the most difficult max mode of the legacy mobile series, and the most difficult version of vanilla 10/20 Mode (including PC pre-patch), but also one of the most difficult versions of any official FNaF max mode to date, right behind all 3 versions (PC/console/mobile) of 50/20 Mode.

Aside from those bugs, custom night plays exactly how you’d want it to. Unless you’re actively attempting to beat 10/20 Mode in this version of the game, I’d say you’re going to have almost as good a time as the modern version. If you are going for 10/20 Mode in this port, may I wish you immensely good luck.
