The salt is real! This fight sucks. I mean it really, really sucks. This is the last fight I wanted to redo because I wanted to do it without a shield and felt like I scrubbed up my first SL1. But I didn't shave much time off my original kill so it's mostly just a "rehash" rather than a "redo".
This is the hardest fight in Dark Souls 3, and it doesn't even have a close second. Maybe it's just me, but Friede's ability to cover long distances with lightning quickness and completely wreck you makes this fight not very much fun. It's a beautiful fight and the music and arena are top-notch, but the fight is too hard for an old man like me. And I suspect it would be hard for my 20 year-old self too.
I wish I could give you some good pointers, but "get lucky" is all I've got. Perhaps watching the video will give you some suggestions that I've intentionally blocked out of my memory...
