SIPTU members in the public service, in our first phase of ballots, have voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action, up to and including strike action.
The vote sends a clear message that public service workers will not accept the continued erosion of their wages or further pressure on already overstretched services. Our members know very well that this situation is a mess of the Government’s making and it is its responsibility to act to prevent disruption to vital public services.
SIPTU will now consult with our representative committees to determine our next steps in forcing this Government to respect public service workers who deliver vital services across the country.
Thank you to every member who took part and all our Organisers and staff for their tremendous work over the summer months in conducting this phase of our ballot.
If your workplace was not part of phase one of this ballot, please be assured you will have a chance to have your say on this Government conduct shortly.
